An elected Liberal Nationals Government will ensure volunteers receive a long awaited pumper tanker and station upgrade at Research CFA.
The $900,000 commitment with provide the much need equipment and new training facilities the brigade desperately needs.
The Research CFA has served the communities of Research, Eltham and Warrandyte for 40 years and has outgrown its current facilities. The building is no longer suitable for the full range of training and operational activities needed to ensure volunteers maintain their life saving skills.
Unfortunately, despite the hard work and fundraising efforts of the Research CFA community, local member Vicki Ward and Labor have overlooked the station time and time again, scaling back the former Liberal Nationals Government funding for a pumper to just a tanker and missing out on any state government grants.
CFA volunteers give their all to their communities, often leaving their families and friends at all hours to help protect our communities, often in dangerous and trying circumstances.
They deserve to have the best facilities available to do this vital work.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“Volunteers selflessly give their time to serve their community – they deserve the best possible equipment and the respect of their State Government.
A Matthew Guy led Liberal Nationals Government will deliver a new pumper tanker to Research CFA, enshrine the rights of volunteers in legislation, and deliver a Royal Commission in to the state’s fire services.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Eltham, Nick McGowan:
“It is vital that the Research CFA has the resources it needs to fight fires and protect our local communities when we need help the most and this new pumper tanker will provide that.
“I fully support our volunteer fire fighters in their efforts to keep our community safe. Unlike the Andrews Government we will provide them with the necessary resources to do so.
